"the peasants’ theriac" Good thing I'm a peasant! Lol

I think I will try making this on the weekend. We grow our own garlic so I have access to plenty.

Have a good week. Cheers.

You’re so lucky to have your own garlic! What kind? And make sure you tell me how you like the soup!

Our garlic is Montana Zen (I'm in Colorado) and we have a relative to Music garlic. I will let you know how it turns out.

I hope you love it! The broth is really delicate and subtle, but pure magic when eaten with a bg of crouton and cheese. I'm definitely making this again soon!

Very similar to my Mother’s garlic soup, though she insisted on chicken broth. The French part of the family was from Saint-Thégonnec in Bretagne.

Interesting to know if it’s traditional in Brittany! I bet it’s delicious but personally I think the flavored broth would hide the delicate garlic and olive oil taste.

I’m looking forward to making this! I’m particularly interested in the health benefits inherent in not just the garlic, but also in the other ingredients (good olive oil, whole spices) you’ve used. Can’t beat a recipe that’s delicious AND good for your health!

So glad Ann Telnaes recommended your Substack!

Sounds absolutely delicious, will have to try it soon. I was wondering if it would work with « ail fumé d’Arleux », a specialty of the north.

This one is very intriguing to me. My recent ancestors were witchy for their day.

I know their belief in garlic was strong (pun intended), and a different topic, my aunt used to have my dad cut her hair by the light of the full moon, because she believed that grew healthy hair fast.

We saw her once a year…her hair would go from short to her waist by the next year. Every time.
